  • Position Summary:

    The Director of Development will lead and manage the development team to cultivate donors and generate revenue in support of VisionCorps’ mission. They will oversee development programs, events and campaigns and will have their own portfolio of major donors. The Director will develop and oversee implementation of a development budget and plan that aligns with the agency’s strategic goals and plans.

    Education, Experience, & Skills
    • High School Diploma
    • Bachelor’s degree (Philanthropy, Communication, Marketing, Public Relations or English writing preferred)
    • Minimum of five years of development experience with proven track record of consistently acquiring major gifts
    • Minimum of three years’ experience managing, mentoring and building a team of fundraising professionals
    • CFRE preferred

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    Administrative
    • Develop department budget and upon approval work with team to ensure compliance
    • Develop relationships with professional advisors
    • Establish and maintain fundraising processes

    • Coach team and conduct performance evaluations
    • When asked, prepare and present reports to the Board of Directors, and serve on any assigned committees of the Board
    • Represent VisionCorps to relevant local and regional organizations
    • Ensure compliance with gift processing

    Development
    • Develop comprehensive plans – from measurable goals and objectives, to the necessary details to achieve success
    • Ensure there are operational processes that support donor retention, renewal and upgrade strategies
    • Monitor and make necessary adjustments to development plans based on analytical data to reach annual goals
    • Engage and cultivate Board members
    • Oversee grant writing efforts
    • Develop strategies to convert volunteers to donors
    • Work with Marketing department to develop donor communications including the annual report, direct mail content, email communications, and more.
    • Analyze results of development programs and initiatives on regular basis
    • Build and maintain pipeline of prospective corporate donors/sponsors

    Donor Relations
    • Develop and cultivate positive and productive relationships with current and prospective donors
    • Translate fundraising priorities and needs into persuasive and compelling gift proposals
    • Create and manage individual donor development plans from discovery, cultivation, solicitation to recognition and stewardship
    • Manage a robust portfolio of active individual major gift donors and prospects

    Signature Event
    • Lead planning and implementation of signature event in collaboration with internal and external partners
    • Ensure all permits, insurance, etc. are completed and approved for event
    • Analyze and identify potential changes to be made based on ongoing results

    Physical Demands:
    • Ability to work a minimum of full-time hours; overtime required based on Development department schedules

    • Fine motor skills – use hands to finger, handle or feel
    • Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle and/or operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms
    • Occasionally required to sit for extended periods of time which may include vehicle
    • Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds
    • Must be able to travel independently and safely in most environments

    Work Environment
    • Minimal travel outside of our service area. Inside service area could be more considerable when handling speaking engagements
